[7-06-09] - The FLPGA/DeSilva Communications has launched a series of City Golf Championships to promote the game of golf, provide players with a fun, competitive sporting event and engage the local business community to promote their products and services by supporting the Tournament. Golfers of ALL levels are invited to play in this major City Wide Championship Golf Tournament. This unique event provides the opportunity for that local golfer (both hacker and accomplished golfer alike), to compete and be crowned "The City Golf Champion." The Two (2) day Tournament is comprised of Five Flights based on a Handicap of 0 - 25. For those players who do not have an official USGA handicap index, the FLPGA will provide a handicap based on the GHIN system. Membership in the FLGPA is not required to enter the Tournament. The City Golf Championship is the single largest Amateur Golf Tournament held on two outstanding golf courses in the City. The weekend event is open to men, women and juniors 16+.

[2-24-09] - The FLGPA held its inaugural Member/Guest Tournament at Debary Golf & Country Club on February 21, 2009. Brian Watkins, a Real Estate Appraiser with Precision Appraisal Group, Inc in Apopka, held off the field to win Lowest Net Score, while Mike Vasta, a retired Building Company President from Ormond Beach, took honors for the Lowest Gross Score. The next FLGPA Tournament is scheduled at Magnolia Plantation, Lake Mary, in April. Format will be a Two-Man Scramble.
